RUSSIA Father fulfilled his 12-year-old son’s long-held dream by buying him a new, fairly powerful pit bike. The boy was learning to ride it in his village on regular roads. He was going too fast, and when a car came into his path, he couldn’t react in time and crashed into it. He died at the scene. When his father saw what happened, he was mentally devastated.
A pit bike is a small, lightweight motorcycle designed for off-road riding. Its small, light design makes it suitable as a starter bike for young riders. Some models are even equipped for road use, with lights, indicators, and turn signals.
Even though it’s suitable for young riders, riding on regular roads without a license or experience is extremely dangerous. Protective gear, such as a helmet, is often neglected because many people assume it’s unnecessary on such a small bike. Yet even a small pit bike can reach speeds up to 50 mph (80 kph).
If you find yourself in a situation like the boy’s father, don’t be discouraged from buying a motorcycle for your child. Outdoor activity, exercise, and hobbies are important for kids. Just remember that along with the bike, it’s crucial to invest in high-quality protective gear. Never allow your child to ride on regular roads; motocross clubs and off-road practice sessions are ideal.
