DHAKA, BANGLADESH – JULY 20, 2025 17-year-old student of the religious school Markazul Fayzil Quran Al Islamia, Hafez Mohammad Taufiq Siam, was found hanged in the school’s bathroom. The school administration immediately contacted the police and his family. However, the family refuses to believe that their son took his own life. They believe he was deliberately murdered and that the scene was staged to look like a suicide.

Taufiq’s father, Salauddin Sardar, said: “My son would never commit suicide. He was devout, disciplined, and an excellent student. He received many national awards. This is clearly murder. We demand a fair investigation.”
Taufiq’s relative, M. Sharif Uddin, stated: “Just a few days ago, Salauddin visited his son at the madrasa. And now suddenly they’re saying he committed suicide. When we arrived in Dhaka, we saw his body hanging in the bathroom – one leg was inside the toilet, the other was bent and touching the floor. How could he have killed himself in such a position? This is unacceptable. Something is definitely wrong here.”
Taufiq’s uncle, Akched Ali, who was in Dhaka at the time of the incident, said: “I went to the school right after the incident. I saw the police removing the body. In one photo, one of his legs was lying on the ground. It looked suspicious, so I personally requested an autopsy. After the post-mortem at Suhrawardy Hospital, the body was sent back to his home village.”
No visible signs of violence were found on his body, except for a few bruises caused by a cane – a form of corporal punishment used by teachers. More will be revealed by the forensic autopsy, which the family requested.
