MANAUS, AMAZONAS, BRAZIL – OCTOBER 22, 2025 19-year-old João Vitor had long abused his own mother, 45-year-old Nadia Regina Andrade. She was very popular in the community and worked as a pastor in the Pentecostal Church of God’s Love. Possibly because of her piety, she kept giving her son chance after chance despite the long-term escalating violence against her.

Everything culminated in a tragic incident on October 22, when he fatally attacked her with a knife. He inflicted several stab wounds to her neck and left her dead on the floor of her home.
Even before the police could apprehend him, he was caught by an angry vigilante group composed of local residents who enforce their own version of justice. They dragged him to the community of Coração de Mãe, where he was lynched to death. His body was found with multiple cuts to the head, likely from a machete.
This serious case shows how far domestic violence and constant forgiveness of someone beyond help can go.
