KATCHA, NIGERIA – OCTOBER 21, 2025 Near the Essa community along the Bida–Badegi–Agaie road, a gasoline tanker overturned. Local residents quickly gathered, trying to take advantage of the situation and steal fuel.
Shortly afterward, the tanker exploded, causing a fire that engulfed the people nearby who were soaked in gasoline. The incident claimed 45 lives and left 62 injured – some critically – with the death toll expected to rise.
Among the dead are 12 men, 27 women, and 6 children. The injured include 24 men, 32 women, and 7 children.
