BAYROM, LARESTAN, IRAN – AUGUST 18, 2025 Video shows the public execution of a man convicted of complicity in multiple robbery murders. He was hanged on a crane before the eyes of a clapping crowd.
The executed man, together with his partner, committed the murder of a 41-year-old teacher and her three daughters aged 14, 7, and 6. They lived together as tenants in the house of a relative of the victim. The family trusted them and even invited them to her wedding. It was there that they noticed the woman possessed some gold and decided to kill her to take it. They lured her to their home along with her children, where they mercilessly murdered them.
The second perpetrator, the executed man’s partner, will most likely face the same punishment. Or she may already be dead. No information about her is known.
In Iran, public executions are still fairly common, which has drawn international criticism. The regime resorts to them for practical, not morally justifiable, reasons. Public executions have a deterrent effect on potential criminals. They also serve as a demonstration of power.
