MYANMAR (BURMA) Myanmar anti-government rebels captured three alleged government, respectively Myanmar army, informants. The man and two women are first beaten and afterwards executed with machetes by severing their cervical spine.
In Myanmar, a civil war between the government and anti-government rebel groups has been going on for decades. Government informants are mostly ordinary civilians who quietly support the government and report to the army the hiding places or identities of rebels. That is why rebels treat them as war spies and execute them without compassion. On one hand, it is a form of punishment for treason, but it also has a deterrent effect on anyone who would want to cooperate with the government.
