MAO, VALVERDE, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – AUGUST 25, 2025 Local community is horrified by the gruesome crime that took place in the Los Restauradores area. Inside one of the apartments, human remains of a woman were found stuffed into a plastic bucket.
Neighbors made the discovery after noticing a putrid smell of decay coming from the apartment. When they looked inside, they found the mutilated body of a woman in the early stages of decomposition in the bathroom, partially dismembered. Rather than being cut into separate parts, pieces of her tissue had been carved away. Portion of her right leg below the knee was missing. The femur in that leg was completely exposed, with no surrounding tissue. Her abdominal cavity was widely open, and her internal organs were missing.
The victim was soon identified as 35-year-old Mildred Estefanía Guerrero Quezada. Her 38-year-old brother, Juan José Guerrero Quezada, was arrested in connection with the crime and confessed during police questioning.

He stated that he had a heated argument with his sister. He pushed her, causing her to fall and stop showing signs of life. Believing he had accidentally killed her, he devised a plan to dispose of her body by cutting it into small pieces. However, when he first stabbed her, she regained consciousness and screamed. Realizing there was no turning back, he fatally stabbed her and continued with his plan.
Juan also admitted to being heavily addicted to drugs. After murdering his sister, he sold all her personal belongings to fund his addiction.
Juan José Guerrero Quezada is currently held in a detention cell awaiting the completion of the investigation and subsequent trial. He is charged with murder and dismemberment, punishable by 20 to 40 years in prison under Dominican Republic law.
