JOÃO PESSOA, PARAÍBA, BRAZIL – AUGUST 31, 2025 In the early morning hours, a fatal traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Maximiano de Figueiredo and Dom Pedro II streets in the city center. A man on a motorcycle ran a red light and entered the intersection at high speed, directly into the path of a bus. Both he and his passenger, who was also his girlfriend, were struck and killed on the spot. The impact was so severe that they were thrown several dozen feet away.
The case is still under investigation by the civil police and has not yet been closed. The most likely scenario being examined is that he missed the traffic light due to high speed, which can significantly limit awareness of the surroundings or cause so-called tunnel vision. This underscores the importance of obeying traffic regulations, which are designed by professionals to prevent accidents like this.
