HUEJOTZINGO, PUEBLA, MEXICO, 2025 Leaked footage from the municipal prison in Huejotzing revealed brutal treatment of inmates by guards. One of them physically attacked a prisoner, beating him severely even though the inmate offered no resistance. The guard even kicked him in the face, all in front of two colleagues who ignored the entire incident.
The case reached the hands of the Minister of Public Security, Francisco Sánchez González, who launched an investigation and confronted the prison director. A state human rights commission was also sent to the prison to assist in reviewing the conduct of the director and guards, aiming to prevent further violence against inmates.
