CHINA Chinese woman suffered a heart attack shortly after entering an elevator with her toddler in her arms. She suddenly collapsed and was found several seconds later by people waiting to use the elevator.
In her case, it was fortunately not an acute, life-threatening heart attack requiring immediate resuscitation, but a so-called silent heart attack. She regained consciousness after a short time and was able to communicate, although she was very weak. While there are no updates on her current condition, it is highly likely that she survived. The toddler remained unharmed.
First aid in such cases mainly involves keeping the patient calm and calling an ambulance. Administering aspirin, which helps prevent blood clotting, is also recommended. While waiting for medical help, it is important to stay with the patient, monitor their condition, and start resuscitation if cardiac arrest occurs.
Prevention, however, is not only about knowing first aid, as a similar issue could affect anyone. Along with maintaining a healthy lifestyle, it is advisable to attend regular preventive medical check-ups. Heart problems can often be detected early, before they become acute emergencies.
