QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN, PAKISTAN – SEPTEMBER 30, 2025 Devastating suicide attack occurred in front of the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. Balochistan’s Health Minister, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, stated that 10 people died and another 32 suffered injuries of varying severity. The numbers may still rise.
The explosion took place shortly before noon on the busy Zarghoon Road. According to all available information, a pickup truck loaded with explosives arrived at the location. Inside were 5 to 6 armed attackers, who got out and started a shootout with security forces. The driver of the vehicle then detonated the explosives, killing himself as well. The force of the blast damaged windows on buildings several kilometers away and compromised the structural integrity of buildings at the epicenter. The victims included both civilians and soldiers. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals.
Quetta has long been a hotspot of insurgent activity. This is partly due to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and partly because of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), an insurgent group seeking the independence of Balochistan, which does not hesitate to use terrorist methods.
