YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA, USA – OCTOBER 1, 2025 23-year-old Alaskan climber Balin Miller died in a climbing accident on El Capitan. The incident occurred during a solo rappel while he was trying to free wedged backpacks. For reasons not yet clear, his harness failed, and he fell approximately 2,400 feet (730 meters). The entire accident was broadcast live on his social media, leaving viewers completely shocked.

Miller was known on TikTok as “the guy with the orange tent.” He frequently streamed his climbs for his audience and shared his views on climbing, while also giving glimpses into his simple everyday life.
His mother said he was a young man full of life, living in his Prius and doing everything he could to pursue his passion for climbing. He also loved animals and an adventurous lifestyle.
