ARENILLAS, ECUADOR Members of an Ecuadorian drug cartel show no mercy to their rival. Using a knife, they cut off his head while he is tied up and blindfolded. They film the execution on video as proof for their superiors, but at the same time as a tool to frighten their rivals.
Violence, death, and illegal activity are the everyday routine for almost all members of cartels and criminal organizations involved in the sale and smuggling of drugs. From countries like Ecuador, drugs – most often cocaine – end up on the market in the United States. It is therefore also up to all of you who create the demand to help prevent such violence.
