Residents showed no mercy to the motorcycle thief. They lynched him – or rather, stoned him – to death right in the middle of a busy road.
In some parts of the African continent, unfortunately, the practice of street justice is still very common. Especially for motorcycle thefts, the harshest and most merciless punishments are often carried out. A motorcycle is usually the only valuable possession poor people have, and they are often existentially dependent on it. When someone tries to steal it, they take it almost as an attempt at murder.
