Snack vendor killed in hit-and-run crash

CUYOTENANGO, SUCHITEPÉQUEZ, GUATEMALA – NOVEMBER 5, 2025 Freddy Orlando Lorenzo López, a 32-year-old street vendor selling banana chips, died after being struck by a vehicle at kilometer 166 of the CA-2 highway in the municipality of Cuyotenango. His body was found beside the road in a condition that made it immediately clear that he could not be revived. His head was open, and his brain had spilled onto the asphalt. After the crash, the driver fled the scene. Police, together with the Ministerio Público, therefore launched an investigation and began searching for the vehicle and its driver.
