CUJUBINZINHO, PORTO VELHO, RONDÔNIA, BRAZIL – NOVEMBER 18, 2025 In the Brazilian village of Cujubinzinho, a 16-year-old boy, Antônio José Alencar da Silva, died after striking a live electrical cable that had fallen across the road while riding his motorcycle. The wire was lying across a section known as Linha do Estudante and, according to witnesses, was still energized.
Upon touching the cable, the young rider received a fatal electric shock and collapsed next to his motorcycle. Police and SAMU emergency responders arrived at the scene, confirmed his death, and transferred the body to the IML forensic institute. Technical teams and investigators began examining why the cable had fallen and why it remained live.
The incident sparked regional concern about poor maintenance of electrical infrastructure and the dangers posed by inadequately secured power lines in remote areas.
