INDIA Man broke into a farm attempting to steal a cow. The farmer caught him in the act and, with the help of friends, punished him painfully. He was beaten on the feet with a wooden plank, causing almost unbearable pain due to the high concentration of nerve endings.
People in India sometimes take justice into their own hands to punish thieves. This mostly happens in rural areas, where there may be distrust in the effectiveness of the official state justice system. However, violence can never be justified. Even a thief has human rights, including the right to a fair trial and punishment according to the law. Anyone who enforces justice on their own exposes themselves to often harsher penalties than the thief themselves.
