BHALUKA, MYMENSINGH DISTRICT, BANGLADESH – DECEMBER 18, 2025 Brutal lynching of a Hindu factory worker took place. The victim was Dipu Chandra Das (27), who was attacked by an enraged mob over allegations that he had allegedly insulted the Prophet Muhammad.

According to available information, Dipu Chandra Das worked at the Pioneer Knit Composite Factory garment factory in the Square Masterbari area. Claims began spreading among employees that he had committed blasphemy against Islam. However, according to later investigations, these accusations were not supported by any direct evidence, and investigators found no one who had actually heard the alleged statements.
The situation quickly escalated, and a crowd of dozens to hundreds of people gathered outside the factory premises. According to investigators, Dipu Chandra Das was first detained inside the factory, but instead of being handed over to police, he ended up in the hands of the angry mob. The attackers then brutally assaulted him and beat him to death.
After the murder, the crowd carried his body to the area near the Square Masterbari bus stop, where witnesses said they tied him to a tree and set him on fire. Footage of the attack later spread on social media and sparked strong reactions in Bangladesh and abroad.
Police and security forces launched an investigation, and several suspects were arrested in connection with the case. Authorities described the incident as an attack on the rule of law, as the victim was not given the opportunity to defend himself in court and was punished solely based on unverified accusations.
A later investigation questioned the very reason behind the lynching. The Rapid Action Battalion security force stated that investigators had been unable to find evidence confirming that Dipu Chandra Das had actually made the statements he was accused of making. The case became another example of the dangers of mob violence and so-called “vigilante justice.”
