MANAUS, AMAZONAS, BRAZIL – JANUARY 9, 2026 On a vacant lot in the Manoa district, a random passerby found the corpse of a woman. She was lying completely naked, face down. Pieces of her clothing were scattered around, which resembled a rape scene.
Military police were called to the scene and sealed off the area until the arrival of forensic technicians from the institute of forensic medicine. They carried out an initial examination of the body and documentation, during which they found a deep cut wound on her neck that was likely fatal.
The victim’s body was subsequently sent for an autopsy in order to determine her identity, confirm rape, and possibly collect biological samples from the perpetrator. The investigation is still ongoing.
If you can provide more information about the case, in Brazil there is a hotline 181, known as “Disque Denúncia”, for reporting crimes. Anonymity is guaranteed.
