BORNO, NIGERIA – MARCH, 2026 Terrorists from the notorious Boko Haram organization carried out an armed attack on a military base in the Ngoshe community, within the Gwoza local government area. Unfortunately, the attack was successful. All soldiers who stood in their way were mercilessly executed and beheaded. Women were kidnapped, and violence also affected civilians in nearby areas.
Borno is a remote and poverty-stricken state in northern Nigeria that has become a safe haven for terrorists and criminals. This is largely due to its vast territory, weak government control, and its location bordering Chad and Niger, which makes it ideal for smuggling routes.
Although the government in Borno is not always able to respond quickly, in recent years they have been trying to stabilize the situation. They have deployed military forces to carry out counterterrorism operations. However, from time to time, even the soldiers themselves become victims of terrorist attacks, as in this case.
