Sucked into aircraft engine at Denver International Airport

DENVER, COLORADO, USA – MAY 8, 2026 At Denver International Airport, a serious incident occurred in which a Frontier Airlines aircraft, during its takeoff roll on the runway, struck a person who had unlawfully entered the runway area.

According to the investigation, the individual reached the airport surface by crossing a security fence, which led to a collision with the aircraft at the moment it was beginning takeoff for a flight to Los Angeles. After the impact, the crew had to immediately abort the takeoff and stop the aircraft.

There were hundreds of passengers and several crew members on board. After the incident, the aircraft was evacuated using emergency slides, and several people sustained minor injuries during the evacuation. The person who entered the runway did not survive the collision.

The event has been immediately investigated by the US aviation authorities FAA and NTSB, which are focusing primarily on how an unauthorized person was able to access such a strictly protected airport area.
