JALISCO, MEXICO – FEBRUARY, 2026 Several members of the National Guard were ambushed by sicarios from the notorious drug cartel CJNG. At least four of them were killed, likely before they even had a chance to defend themselves.
In the state of Jalisco, there is currently an open conflict between the cartel and the government. The state is trying to clean up smuggling routes and the cartel’s influence, while the cartel has literally its own army financed by drug sales. Shootouts, ambushes of patrols, and similar attacks often occur.
