NOVA IGUAÇU, RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL On a street in the Nova Iguaçu district, four dead men were found lying around. They showed signs of extreme violence and torture. All of them had their limbs tied. As it later turned out, they were criminals and murderers who were likely responsible for the death of an 8-year-old girl. A notorious gang, Comando Vermelho, claimed responsibility for their killing, allegedly ensuring “justice” in this way and bypassing the state justice system.
