JERUSALEM, PALESTINE Man attempted to climb over the separation barrier between the Israeli and Palestinian parts of Jerusalem. During this illegal attempt to cross the border, he was shot in the leg by Israeli border guards. The serious and bleeding injury forced him to return back to Palestinian territory.
Jerusalem is a city that is currently claimed by both Israel and Palestine. The city is divided into West Jerusalem (Israeli) and East Jerusalem (Palestinian). A separation barrier runs through the city – a high concrete wall with a modern camera and surveillance system. The Israeli side takes the security of this border very seriously, and any illegal attempts to cross it can result in gunfire.
