BALSA NOVA, PARANÁ, BRAZIL – APRIL 30, 2025 Matbit2006, whose real name was Mateus José Santos Cordeiro, was an 18-year-old Brazilian YouTuber who went by the nickname Matbit2006 and was mainly active in the community around the video game Friday Night Funkin’. Although he was not a major internet creator, he had a small but active community of fans. He mainly focused on gaming content and also worked on his own fan-made projects. According to people close to him, however, he had recently been facing intense psychological pressure and repeated online harassment.

On April 30, 2025, a tragedy occurred that shocked the Brazilian internet. Matbit2006 started a live stream on YouTube, during which he died by suicide – he shot himself in the head with a shotgun. Shortly before his death, he reportedly apologized to people who cared about him and, according to available accounts, appeared to be someone in deep psychological distress.
