WASPAM, NICARAGUA – APRIL 2, 2025 Father and son, Nasario Manzanares (42) and Yostin Manzanares (16), were working together on the installation of public lighting. While carelessly handling a street lamp, they came into contact with high-voltage wires. Both immediately suffered injuries caused by high-voltage electric current and died at the scene. Their bodies caught fire, and by the time emergency responders arrived, both bodies were partially charred.
In similar situations, you should never approach the scene to provide first aid. Electricity can still travel through the ground. First aid consists of calling emergency services and warning others not to approach the area.
