GUAYAQUIL, ECUADOR – JUNE 19, 2026 Violent attack took place in the Vergeles neighborhood, in which local chicken meat seller Luis Félix Aucanshala Estrella (33) was murdered.
According to preliminary police information, he was attacked by armed men shortly after opening his shop and starting his workday in a busy commercial area. The attack happened quickly, and the man was transported in serious condition to a medical facility, where he later died.
Investigators do not yet know the exact motive of the crime or the identity of the perpetrators. One of the theories being examined is a possible link to extortion, which has long been a problem in some parts of Guayaquil. However, this hypothesis has not been confirmed.
According to available court records, the victim had two past legal cases, which were eventually dismissed without conviction. Police are continuing the investigation and are determining whether these circumstances may be connected to the attack.
