Truck driver severely burned in high-voltage electrical accident

PHUKET, THAILAND – AUGUST 20, 2020 In the Wichit area on the island of Phuket, a serious incident occurred in which a truck driver was severely shocked by electricity after his vehicle came into contact with overhead power lines.

According to local reports, a six-wheeled truck was transporting a tall steel structure. However, it was too high, and while passing through an intersection it touched high-voltage cables running above the road. At the moment of contact, a strong electrical discharge occurred, creating sparks and causing immediate danger in the entire area.

CCTV cameras captured the moment when the metal structure touched the power lines and a bright blue-white flash occurred. The driver then stopped the vehicle and got out of the cab. At that moment, the most critical part of the incident occurred – after contacting the ground and the vehicle, his body became part of the electrical circuit and he was struck by a current that caused flames to ignite on his body.

Witnesses said that people nearby initially could not approach him because there was a risk of further electrical arcing. Some tried to help, but had to wait until the situation became safer. Rescue services also joined the response, provided first aid, and transported the man to the hospital.

According to available information, the man survived, but suffered severe burns on his limbs and other injuries caused by the fall and electrical shock.
