AN GIANG, VIETNAM – AUGUST 21, 2026 Female student riding a moped failed to pay sufficient attention to driving and the surrounding traffic, which led to a tragic accident. She crashed into a parked tractor at full speed. Unfortunately, she suffered injuries incompatible with life and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was captured by CCTV.
Although Vietnamese law officially allows people to ride the smallest-engine motorcycles from the age of 16, the reality is often different. It is common to see much younger riders on more powerful vehicles on the roads, often riding without a driver’s license.
A motorcycle or moped is the primary means of transportation in Vietnam and is often the only way for students to get to school. Although the law says otherwise, underage riders are often overlooked by the police themselves.
