Her former partner, 33-year-old Jhon Keller Luques, came to the house to see her. According to the investigative theory, he attempted to reconcile with her and resume their relationship. However, Carmine Yohanny Sosa refused, and an argument subsequently broke out between the two.
During the conflict, Jhon pulled out a firearm and shot Carmine several times. He struck her in the head and neck. He then turned the weapon on himself and committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.
At the scene, police found a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver with four spent casings, as well as a mobile phone. Some reports state that Carmine was murdered in front of her children.
