REWA, MADHYA PRADESH, INDIA – AUGUST 31, 2026 20-year-old Arjun Chamkel died after jumping from the fourth floor of Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Rewa, India. According to witnesses, people outside the hospital tried to persuade him not to jump, but Arjun did not heed their pleas.
He suffered serious injuries in the fall and was admitted to the surgical intensive care unit of the same hospital. Despite doctors’ efforts, he died during treatment.
According to available information, Arjun worked at a private hospital. His family said that he had recently been experiencing health problems and was suffering from psychological stress as a result. On the day of the incident, his mother said he left home saying he was going to buy gutkha (a smokeless tobacco product), and later went to the hospital to see a doctor. It is not yet clear why he decided to jump from the fourth floor.
People recorded the incident on their mobile phones, and the footage subsequently began circulating on social media. Police are currently investigating the case and the circumstances of his death.
