AL-ABR, HADRAMOUT, YEMEN – AUGUST 1, 2026 Brigadier General Osama Abdulkarim Mohsen al-Radfani, commander of the 4th Brigade of the Homeland Shield Forces, was killed in an armed attack in the Al-Abr area of Yemen’s Hadramaut province. Several members of his entourage were also killed in the ambush.
al-Radfani, also known as “Abu Al-Azz,” was a Salafist military commander and a prominent figure in the Nation’s Shield Forces, which are supported by Saudi Arabia. According to local sources, he participated in fighting against the Houthis on several fronts, including Al-Dhalea, Yafea, Harib, and Mokha. At the time of the attack, according to available information, he was returning from Saudi Arabia after leading an armed tribal delegation that responded to mobilization against the Houthis in Al-Jawf province.
