SOUTH AFRICA Thief was caught attempting to steal. An angry crowd of local residents quickly gathered around him and took punishment into their own hands. They stripped him naked and tied him to a bench, where they painfully whipped him.
Although similar acts of vigilante justice may sometimes seem quick and effective, they are actually a gross violation of human rights. Even the worst thief has the right to a fair trial and punishment under the law. Never take part in anything like this and always call the police to the scene.
