PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE, NIGERIA – AUGUST 1, 2019 23-year-old Maureen Ewurun was found dead in a hotel room on Peremabiri Street in the D-Line area. According to police, she was strangled after having sexual intercourse with a man who subsequently fled the scene.

Maureen Ewurun, who was from Umuahia in Abia State and lived in Port Harcourt, was reportedly the mother of one child. Her body was found on the bed in the hotel room after the suspect had left.
Police subsequently analyzed footage from the hotel’s security cameras and searched for the suspect. The hotel manager was also detained, although police said this was only to assist with the investigation. Information about the suspect being apprehended was never made public.
