UASIN GISHU COUNTY, KENYA – MAY 2, 2026 Mother and her son drowned while attempting to cross a swollen river using an improvised bridge made of two thin wooden logs.
The pair were trying to make their way across the fast-moving water when they lost their balance and fell into the river. The strong current swept them away, and both were unable to survive.
The incident occurred amid heavy rains and flooding affecting parts of Kenya. Authorities have warned residents to avoid crossing swollen rivers and other dangerous waterways during periods of severe weather.
