MARONDERA, MASHONALAND EAST, ZIMBABWE – SEPTEMBER 30, 2026 43-year-old Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Munodaani Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Rujeko Muteke, died in a helicopter crash near Kudenga Farm. The aircraft crashed at around 5:00 p.m., approximately 43 miles (70 kilometers) southeast of Harare.

There were five people on board. In addition to Chivayo and Muteke, Saneliswe Magagula, pilot Calvin Tafirei Soda, and co-pilot Courage Mutavirwa also died. None of the people on board survived.

The crash caused a fuel leak followed by a fire. The victims’ bodies suffered extensive damage, and forensic experts were required to identify them. The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and the incident is being investigated by police together with aviation experts.
