NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, USA – OCTOBER 3, 2026 24-year-old IT engineer Shah Ahsan Ardi died in a tragic accident on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx. The accident occurred around 4:20 a.m. near the Macombs Dam Bridge. Ardi, who lived in Wakefield, was riding a motorcycle northbound when, according to police, he lost control and crashed into a guardrail. The impact threw him from the motorcycle onto the roadway.
In the extremely violent impact, he suffered devastating injuries, including decapitation. His head, which according to available information remained inside the motorcycle helmet, subsequently lay on the roadway. The NYPD officially stated that Ardi suffered severe body trauma. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
The northbound lanes of the Major Deegan Expressway were closed for approximately four hours while the accident was investigated and reopened around 9:00 a.m. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
