TAPACHULA, CHIAPAS, MEXICO 18-year-old girl from Honduras was found dead in Mexico, where she lived with her boyfriend. According to his statement, he discovered her early in the morning after returning home from a night shift. She was hanging from a rope attached to a ceiling beam. The man cut her down in the hope that he could still save her, but she was pronounced dead after emergency responders arrived.

According to her boyfriend, the girl had discovered shortly before her death that she was pregnant. He claimed that they were both looking forward to having the baby and that he had even been taking extra shifts to cover their future expenses.
However, the young woman’s family questioned his version of events. Relatives in Honduras suspected that he had strangled the girl because he did not want the baby and then staged her suicide. They therefore demanded further investigation.
Police stated that they had thoroughly investigated the case and found no signs of third-party involvement. The responding emergency worker also reported no visible injuries other than the ligature mark. Although the room was messy, according to his statement, nothing suggested that a struggle had taken place there before her death.
An independent analysis of the available photographs and interviews with the boyfriend, the emergency worker, and two of the girl’s aunts also yielded no concrete evidence supporting the suspicion of murder. The family referred to an alleged autopsy report proving that she had died a violent death, but they did not provide a copy.
The death was ultimately ruled a suicide. The available information provides no clear reason to question the investigation’s conclusions, but the actual motive behind the girl’s actions remains unknown.
