Factory worker falls into pit of sulfuric acid

PANZHIHUA, SICHUAN PROVINCE, CHINA – OCTOBER 7, 2025 Factory worker fell into a containment pit filled with 98% sulfuric acid. According to available information, acid had likely leaked into it from an industrial tank.

Security camera footage shows a man descending a metal ladder. When he grabbed an unsecured wooden beam, it shifted, causing the worker to lose his balance. He then fell directly into the acid pit. His clothing began to disintegrate within seconds, and large blackened areas appeared on his skin. Despite his severe injuries, he managed to get out of the hazardous area on his own.

The man’s subsequent fate has not been confirmed. Some online sources report that he later died from extensive chemical burns and multiple organ failure. However, Chinese sources have not officially confirmed his death, and information about whether he survived the accident remains ambiguous.
