ROMA, LA LIBERTAD, PERU – OCTOBER 23, 2026 19-year-old César Augusto Izquierdo Chavil suffered serious hand injuries in an explosion involving an explosive device that police say he allegedly planted outside a family home for the purpose of extortion.
According to preliminary information, the device exploded during the incident and caused severe injuries to one of his hands. The injured man was taken to the Casa Grande medical center, where he received medical treatment.
Police subsequently detained the man. Investigators are now clarifying the circumstances of the explosion and are also looking into information about his possible criminal history dating back to when he was a minor. His alleged involvement in extortion remains under investigation.
