ACRE, BRAZIL – MARCH 14, 2025 In the Chico Mendes reserve, at the 40th kilometer of the Ramal São João road, a tragic accident occurred that claimed the lives of two men. Clair Matiello de Oliveira and Wilian Silva Vieira stopped with their motorcycle at the side of the road to repair the chain. But they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. During this activity, a large tree fell on them, and its branches hit them. One of the men suffered an open skull fracture and died on the spot, the other succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
The bodies were found by a relative who recorded the accident on video. Rescue teams faced difficult access to the site due to a damaged bridge and poor road conditions. After overcoming these obstacles, the bodies were transported to the city of Brasiléia for further examination.
The Chico Mendes reserve, named after the famous Amazon rainforest protector, is an area with difficult terrain and limited infrastructure, which complicates the access of rescue units in emergencies.
