BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA – MAY 21, 2025 In the Villa Crespo district, a family massacre occurred that shocked all of Argentina. When the Seltzer family’s cleaning lady came to their house as usual, she was shocked to find the dead body of their 12-year-old son Ivo lying on the floor. She immediately called the police, who searched the entire house and found that all four members of the family had been murdered.

At first, it was believed that the perpetrator was the father, Bernardo, because from experience, such acts are usually committed by men. However, the investigation revealed that the perpetrator was the mother, Laura Leguizamón (51). One of the main pieces of evidence pointing to her was a found letter, in which many nonsensical things were written, such as: “we went to the streets,” “it was very bad, perverted,” “it was too much,” “I love you all.”
Laura was undergoing evaluation for possible schizophrenia. She had shown signs of the illness for two years before the act. Since March, she had been taking antidepressants and antipsychotics, but was still waiting for regular therapy. The family’s cleaning lady confirmed her worsening condition, saying she had recently been irritable about everything.
Investigators managed to reconstruct the case. She first murdered her husband while he was asleep. He received three stab wounds to the chest. He died before he could defend himself, as no signs of struggle were found on his body. Laura then went to her sons’ room, Ivo and Ian. Twelve-year-old Ivo tried to run when he heard what was happening, but was caught and stabbed 12 times in the back. His brother Ian was hiding in his room, but he too was murdered in the same way.
Laura then lay down in bed next to her dead husband and, in a psychotic state, tore out her hair and scratched her neck with her fingernails. She then stabbed herself in the heart and went to the bathroom, where she died.
