Family was attacked by an aggressive jaguar. They were all very lucky to survive the attack. Nevertheless, it did not happen without injuries.
Although jaguar attacks on humans are extremely rare, they seldom end this well. Jaguars have extremely strong jaws capable of easily biting through a human skull. Most attacks end in serious injury or death.
The best defense against jaguars is prevention itself. If you don’t have to, do not enter areas where jaguars live. They naturally hunt wild game and avoid contact with humans. If you must enter, be loud to alert jaguars to your presence. It is also recommended to avoid their cubs and not move in their territory at night when they are actively hunting.
When a jaguar attacks, do not play dead, but fight. Remember to protect your head and neck. Use any tools you have at hand and strike sensitive spots. Make loud noises.
