The main suspect in her murder is 62-year-old José Melo Batista. He frequently visited the house where the victim lived and was in love with her. He had even asked her several times to start a relationship and made sexual advances toward her. Lorena rejected him every time.
When neighbors learned this information, a mob panic erupted. They dragged José outside and began to lynch him. He was only saved by the police, who arrived at the scene. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and will be handed over to the city’s civil police department.
