PUERTO PLATA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – NOVEMBER 12, 2019 Patricia Ann Anton, a 63-year-old American woman, was found brutally murdered in her apartment in the coastal town of Cabarete, Dominican Republic. Her body was discovered face down on the bed, hogtied, and bearing clear signs of torture. The apartment had been ransacked, with valuable items such as her laptop, cell phone, and television missing. Authorities concluded that she had been strangled during a violent robbery.

What raised particular concern was the fact that there were no signs of forced entry, indicating she may have known her assailant and let them in willingly. Following the investigation, six Dominican nationals were arrested in connection with the crime.
Patricia had moved to the Dominican Republic more than 15 years ago from Traverse City, Michigan. She devoted herself to education and worked as a teacher and consultant at the 3 Mariposas Montessori school. She earned admiration for her dedication, compassion, and ability to mentor and inspire others. Outside the classroom, she was deeply engaged in community service -helping to build schools and volunteering in various local initiatives. Her family and colleagues remember her as a generous, caring woman who made a lasting impact on countless lives.
