NIGERIA Guy was caught by local residents with a bag full of dismembered remains of a young woman. He confessed that he had killed her for ritual purposes of black magic.
In some backward parts of Africa (and also other continents), people still believe in magic and pseudoscience. Especially in Nigeria, illegal occult practices based on black magic are widespread. They use human body parts because people believe they bring wealth, power, protection, success, or healing effects.
Young women are often targets of these ritual killings for several reasons. They are easy victims, and there is also a belief that virgins have a kind of pure energy. Their body parts also fetch more money on the black market.
The people who commit the murders usually don’t use the remains for rituals themselves. Their motivation is purely financial. Selling the head of a young woman can easily earn them hundreds or thousands of dollars. Her severed genitals have a similar price.
