MENDOZA, ARGENTINA – JUNE 26, 2025 Group of three armed robbers raided a currency exchange inside the busy Galerie Tonsa shopping center. However, the incident ended in the lynching of one of them.
They stormed in with weapons drawn, and one of the attackers even pulled the trigger, but the gun failed to fire. They stole around 500,000 Argentine pesos (the equivalent of 400 dollars) and attempted to flee.
But during the escape, they attracted the attention of nearby shopkeepers, who began chasing them. One of the robbers was caught, thrown to the ground, brutally beaten, stripped down to his underwear, and left bloodied in a ditch. Several bystanders captured the dramatic moment on video.
When police arrived, the robber was identified as a 39-year-old man with a lengthy criminal record. He was reportedly linked to a group of radical fans of the Deportivo Maipú football club. Despite the evidence, he claimed after his arrest that he had nothing to do with the robbery and worked for the local city hall. His claim was later proven false.
The next day, police in the Maipú district found a black Peugeot 308 used as the getaway car during the heist. The other two suspects remain at large, and the case is being investigated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Economic Crimes in Mendoza. The incident has been classified as an armed robbery committed by an organized group.
