CHINA Two women were found dead on a bed. The cause of death was later determined to be carbon monoxide poisoning from incomplete coal combustion.
Some sources suggest the women had simply tried to heat the room to stay warm, as indicated by the coat and sweater they were wearing. Other reports claim that the two may have intentionally ended their lives this way.
CO molecule binds to hemoglobin in the blood about 250 times more strongly than oxygen. This blocks the transport of oxygen throughout the body and leads to hypoxia. Most people don’t realize they’re suffocating – it happens silently, and they usually just lose consciousness and die.
