CHINA When the employer discovered that his stock was disappearing, he waited to catch the culprit. Two employees were identified and given a rather brutal punishment. Both were beaten with plastic pipes on their backs. The blows left bloody bruises that resemble the whipping of slaves in the United States from past centuries.
Although physical punishment of employees is not officially allowed in China, it commonly occurs, especially in the industrial sector. It is usually inflicted on the poorest and most vulnerable workers.
