ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, USA – JULY 20, 2025 In the early morning hours, a deadly shooting occurred in front of the Gaslight Lounge bar on 4th Avenue. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Leroy Manogiamanu, arrived accompanied by two masked individuals and began shooting wildly into the crowd outside the bar. However, security personnel managed to eliminate him thanks to their immediate reaction.
Fortunately, no one else besides the shooter died. Two security guards were shot – one of them even seven times – but both are now in stable condition. A woman in the crowd was hit by a ricocheted bullet but suffered only minor injuries.
The bar’s owner, John Pattee, stated that the suspect and his companions were connected to individuals who had been banned from entering the bar. It is therefore possible that this was some form of revenge for the ban.
The Anchorage Police Department responded to the incident by doubling the number of patrols in nightlife areas. They also stated that no charges will be filed against the security worker who neutralized the shooter, as he apparently acted in self-defense.
